Author and Clinic Director
Long: Gavin Routledge is a Gold Medalist graduate of the British School of Osteopathy and a lifelong student of pain. For more than 30 years, he’s helped people overcome lower back pain and sciatica — challenges he knows all too well.
After living with back pain and sciatica for seven long years in his twenties, Gavin reached a turning point. Determined to master his own back, he did exactly that — and went on to write The Back Book (HarperCollins, 1997), which became a national bestseller. He later completed a Master’s in Pain Management at the University of Edinburgh and published his second book on back pain in 2017.
Today, with more than three decades in clinical practice and thousands of success stories behind him, Gavin blends science, empathy and technology to help people live pain-free and confident lives. His latest project, Active X Intelligence (AXI), is an AI companion he’s trained to share his clinical wisdom 24/7 with people around the world.
When he’s not helping others beat back pain, Gavin keeps himself moving — cycling over 100 miles a week, lifting weights, and sneaking in rounds of golf when he can. He lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, with his family and a strong belief that life is better when you stay active.
