Liz Mugavero

Liz Mugavero is an author, editor, and strategic communications leader with extensive experience in internal and executive communications, as well as content strategy and creation. With over 20 years of expertise in journalism, strategic communications, and marketing, she has built and led high-performing teams, developed senior executive brands and crafted impactful internal and external communication strategies.
A multi-published author, Liz writes under her own name and the pen name Cate Conte. She has published 19 books across three mystery series. As Liz, she created the Pawsitively Organic Mysteries, the first of which was an Agatha Award nominee. As Cate, she writes the Full Moon Mysteries and the Cat Cafe Mysteries, blending charming small-town settings, curious cats, and plenty of intrigue.
When she’s not plotting her next whodunit, Liz helps fellow writers embrace their creativity through The Creativity Lab, a membership for storytellers, and as the host of the Get Writing podcast. She also serves as a coach and mentor to emerging writers, guiding them through the creative process and the publishing landscape.
Liz holds a BA in English and communications from Salem State University and an MA in writing and publishing from Emerson College. She lives in Boston with her rescue animals, who keep her on her toes and occasionally demand starring roles in her books.
