Nathan LaChine is a longtime foster parent, educator, and advocate with more than two decades of experience supporting some of Washington State’s most vulnerable youth. A third-generation foster parent, he has provided therapeutic foster care for over 20 years and founded Evergreen Caregiver Support to empower caregivers through training, resources, and community connection.

Nathan is the author of the Internet Safety Workbook for Tweens: With Olivia and Friends an Interactive Guide to Internet Safety for Kids & Families, a hands-on workbook that teaches digital safety through storytelling, real-life scenarios, and engaging activities. The workbook blends fun worksheets, puzzles, quizzes, and reflection exercises with “Chat Starters” designed to spark conversations between kids and caregivers. Complete with a family internet safety agreement and practical tools for building healthy online habits.

Nathan is a trainer and professional speaker whose work expertise spans a wide range of topics to include internet safety, online grooming prevention, CSEC education, LGBTQIA+ youth support, harm reduction, and family-affirming care. He also serves as a Foster Parent Mentor and Support Group Facilitator with the University of Washington and is the Foster Parent Representative in DCYF’s Foster Parent 1624 Consultation Team, helping influence statewide policy.
His work is anchored in the principles “Educate, Empower, Harm Reduction,” blending real-world caregiving experience with systems-level advocacy. Nathan is passionate about creating safe, inclusive, and affirming environments for all youth, drawing on his lived experience to inform training, policy discussions, and caregiver education across Washington State and beyond.
