Nathan LaChine is a longtime foster parent, educator, and advocate with over two decades of experience supporting Washington State’s most vulnerable youth. A third-generation foster parent, he has provided therapeutic foster care for more than 20 years and is the founder of Evergreen Caregiver Support, an organization dedicated to empowering caregivers through training, resources, and community connection.
He is the author of The Internet Safety Workbook for Tweens: With Olivia and Friends, an interactive guide that helps kids and families learn digital safety through storytelling, real-life scenarios, and engaging activities. The workbook features reflection exercises, “Chat Starters,” and a family internet safety agreement to promote healthy online habits.
As a trainer and speaker, Nathan’s expertise spans internet safety, online grooming prevention, CSEC education, LGBTQIA+ youth support, harm reduction, and family-affirming care. He serves as a Foster Parent Mentor and Support Group Facilitator with the University of Washington and represents caregivers on DCYF’s Foster Parent 1624 Consultation Team, helping shape statewide policy.
Guided by his core principles—Educate, Empower, Harm Reduction—Nathan blends real-world caregiving experience with systems-level advocacy, working to create safe, inclusive, and affirming environments where all youth can thrive.
