Dr. Steve Haberlin is an assistant professor in the College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida, where he researches the impact and experiences of meditation, mindfulness, and other mind-body practices in higher education.
He is the author of Meditation in the College Classroom: A Pedagogical Tool to Help Students De-Stress, Focus, and Connect and the forthcoming Meta-Meditation for Mental Health: How Neuroscience, Virtual Reality, and AI Are Radically Changing Practice and How You Can Benefit (Spring 2026).
Dr. Haberlin’s work has been featured in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of American College Health and Mindfulness. He is recognized as a pioneer in exploring how AI and mindfulness intersect to create new possibilities for learning and well-being.
He also serves as an editor for the Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education and co-program chair for the American Educational Research Association’s Contemplative Inquiry and Holistic Education special interest group. A lifelong practitioner, Dr. Haberlin has studied and practiced meditation for nearly three decades.

He is the author of Meditation in the College Classroom: A Pedagogical Tool to Help Students De-Stress, Focus, and Connect and a new book due out Spring 2026, Meta-Meditation for Mental Health: How Neuroscience, Virtual Reality, and AI are Radically Changing Practice and How You Can Benefit. Dr. Haberlin has published research in a number of peer-reviewed academic journals, including the Journal of American College Health and Mindfulness, and has been a leading voice and pioneer in exploring how AI is converging with mindfulness to create new possbibilities.
He also serves as an editor for the Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education and co-program chair for the American Educational Research Association’s Contemplative Inquiry and Holistic Education special interest group. Dr. Haberlin has personally practiced meditation for 29 years.
