Dr. Stephen Mateka is a double board certified psychiatrist specializing in both General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and currently serves as Medical Director of Psychiatry and Co Chair at Inspira Health System.

His work sits at the intersection of clinical care, leadership, and advocacy. He plays an active role in shaping mental health systems across New Jersey, serving as Immediate Past President of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association and advising the state’s Children’s System of Care. He also contributes at a national level through leadership roles with organizations focused on advancing child and adolescent psychiatry.

Dr. Mateka’s expertise extends beyond practice into thought leadership. As Section Editor for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Psychiatric Times, he helps bring forward critical insights and developments in the field.

Trained at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of Michigan, he brings both academic rigor and real world experience to his work. Known for his commitment to improving care for young people and families, Dr. Mateka continues to influence how mental health is understood, delivered, and supported.

Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with family and remains a loyal, if occasionally tested, fan of Philadelphia sports teams.
