Bil Hatch

Leadership coach and podcaster

I have been working as a coach for more than 15 years and as a fractional sales manager for a couple of years, now. I am also pursuing the Marketplace Ministry focus in the MDiv program at Regent University. I earned a BBA in marketing and management from Northwood University back in 2011. The Lord has also seen fit to bless me first with a radio ministry and currently with a podcast ministry (YWL Online, you can find us at Facebook.com/baldspotspro) that I do with my parents and roommate. I also host Not Quite After Midnight and am honored to interview a wide variety of people on Thursday evenings, but you already knew that.

I am all about serving others. About a decade ago, I met a woman at church, Lia, who would become my best & dearest friend. Her husband was a stick in the mud who would only go to his job, play his video games, eat, and sleep. Lia and I would go out and do things, like eating and going to movies. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, I rearranged my schedule so I could take her to her treatments. It all came out well, and she was clear from cancer for about five years. When she was diagnosed with another breast cancer, I rearranged my schedule again, and she had a double mastectomy. Then she was diagnosed with colon cancer, so I committed more time to help my friend. When the chemotherapy for the colon cancer gave Lia a stroke, I was with her and her husband, Rudy, nearly 24/7. Rudy was earning too much to qualify for the help they needed from the state but not enough to pay for it themselves. We were getting just enough income for the three of us to get by, so I moved in and became a full-time caregiver. This is when Rudy made a dramatic turnaround: he started taking care of his wife, so I could take a break from time to time; his heart turned toward The Lord, and he began to work with us in the podcast ministry and speak The Word of The Lord to encourage people he would meet. We've become great friends since; I probably wouldn't be where I am without Rudy's and my parents' ongoing support. A little more than three years ago, Lia finished her race and was taken into glory by our Lord.

After working as a full-time caregiver for more than three years, it was difficult to keep my eyes on the prize. The Lord was not going to leave me alone. He led me to a seminary program, led me to join a Hispanic congregation (that is another story), and reconnected me to my business coaching roots. Since Lia went home, I have been working to help people plan for their futures (so they won't find themselves in the same place Lia, Rudy, and I found ourselves) and build the ministry. I am also recreating my leadership coaching program. I enjoy a wide variety of pastimes, including donating at the Red Cross every couple of weeks and learning Spanish. On top of everything else, I had back surgery in 2020 and knee surgery in 2022.
