Erica Elliott is a physician in Santa Fe, New Mexico, nicknamed “The Medical Detective,” because she treats people from across the US who have difficult-to-diagnose medical conditions. Erica’s adult life began as a schoolteacher on the Navajo Reservation in the early 1970s, and then Peace Corps volunteer in South America working as a bilingual educator, a high-altitude mountain climber in the Andes, an Outward Bound instructor in the Colorado Rockies, and finally a medical doctor for the past 40 years. She is the author of “Medicine and Miracle in the High Desert: My Life Among the Navajo People,” and “From Mountains to Medicine: Scaling the Heights in Search of My Calling.” Her third book in the memoir trilogy is called, “From Doctor to Healer.” Her blog site, www.musingsmemoirandmedicine.com contains a mixture of medical information, stories from her life, and travel blogs.
