Mary has lived experience with the family court system and is passionate about helping parents navigate a system that far too often gets it wrong in terms of helping families heal when issues of abuse, addictions and affairs rip families apart. World-wide, protective parents are fighting to regain custody of their children when family courts place children into the custody of the very parent who has been neglecting them and in numerous cases abusing them. Mary hopes to work with parents and court officials to teach key adults the signs of relationship violence/coercive control and how to hold family courts accountable when the courts get it wrong.

Mary Lynn Childerston on Family Court Reform and Child Safety | 1,669 Mary Lynn Childerston believes protecting children requires more than reforming broken systems. Sometimes those systems must be fundamentally reimagined. Describing herself as a “disruptive educator,” Mary Lynn has shifted her focus from advocating for educational, legal, and social reform toward helping create new systems designed to better serve children and families. That mission is driving her creation of the Family Court Accountability Project (FCAP), an initiative centered on accountability and the belief that children's safety and well-being should remain at the heart of family court decisions. Through FCAP, Mary Lynn hopes to bring people together around new approaches to systems she believes are failing the families they were created to serve.
