James Logan believes hope is not something you wait for. It is something you choose to keep moving toward, even when the road ahead feels impossible.
A lifelong endurance athlete, James has completed approximately 300 races across four decades and has been pursuing IRONMAN competition since 2018. In 2026, that journey is taking him to one of endurance sports' biggest stages after being selected to compete with TEAM IMF at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
For 2026, James has simplified his life around three goals: arrive in Kona with enough strength and fitness to complete the race within the 17-hour limit, publish and promote Just Keep TRI-ING, and raise as much money as possible for the IRONMAN Foundation.
His message is simple: a difficult diagnosis may change the course of your life, but it does not have to take away your purpose. Keep believing, keep moving, and above all, just keep TRI-ING.

In 2026, that journey is taking him to one of endurance sports' biggest stages after being selected to compete with TEAM IMF at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
But getting to Kona represents far more than an athletic achievement. In April 2024, James was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic colorectal cancer that had spread to his liver. Since then, he has undergone extensive treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple major surgeries involving his colon, liver, gallbladder, and rectum. Today, he competes and trains with an ostomy while continuing chemotherapy for new tumors in his liver.
Despite being given a devastating prognosis, James has continued moving forward. More than two years after his diagnosis, he remains focused on training for Kona and living with a mindset captured by a phrase that has become central to his journey: “I have cancer. Cancer does not have me.”
His experience also inspired him to write Just Keep TRI-ING, a book created to offer faith to those struggling to believe, hope to those who feel hopeless, and support for the IRONMAN Foundation. James plans to direct profits from the book toward the foundation until his fundraising goals are reached.
