Dan Schlund believes the moments that bring us crashing down can also become the foundation for building something greater.
Known around the world as “The Rocketman,” Dan is an entrepreneur, paramedic, stunt performer, author, speaker, and one of the few people to master the extraordinary art of Rocketbelt flight. For more than a decade, he completed hundreds of flights across 26 countries and six continents, taking his career from Hollywood stunt work and live-action productions to major international events.
But Dan’s story reaches far beyond the spectacle of flying. His career has crossed professional stunt work, pyrotechnics, film and television production, and emergency medical services, giving him a unique understanding of both high-risk environments and the responsibility of protecting the people working within them.
That perspective became deeply personal after Dan survived catastrophic injuries, including severe burns that cost him 185 square inches of skin and a later crash that left him with a broken neck. Those experiences forced him to confront not only physical recovery, but the challenge of rebuilding his identity when the life he had known suddenly changed.
Dan transformed those experiences into his next mission by founding National Set Medics, a nationwide emergency medical services company supporting film, television, reality productions, and live events. The company has generated more than $10 million in revenue and built a network of over 13,200 registered emergency medical professionals nationwide, turning Dan’s firsthand experience in dangerous environments into an organization dedicated to keeping others safe.
From flying a Rocketbelt around the world to surviving life-altering injuries and building a multimillion-dollar company, Dan’s journey is ultimately a story of resilience, reinvention, and refusing to allow adversity to write the final chapter.
His message is simple: you cannot always control the crash, but you can decide what you build from it.
