Racheal Blackmore believes the strongest marketing happens when people recognize their own story in the words a brand uses.
A messaging strategist, creative director, and founder of The Messaging Lab, Racheal has spent more than 14 years helping businesses communicate in ways that create genuine connection. Across years of client work, she discovered a consistent pattern: people are far more likely to engage when the message reflects something they already recognize in themselves.
That insight became the foundation of her Connect-First Method, a three-story messaging framework built around connection before persuasion. Rather than starting with what a business wants to say, Racheal focuses on understanding what an audience needs to recognize, feel, and understand before they are ready to listen.
Her perspective comes from an unconventional background. Before becoming a copywriter, Racheal was the youngest certified Wicklander-Zulawski interrogator at an 800-location retailer and the only woman serving in the role. The experience taught her a lesson that would later shape her approach to marketing: recognition has to happen before people truly open up.
Combining that experience with her training as a journalist and career as an award-winning copywriter, Racheal now teaches the psychology behind why conventional marketing advice can miss the people it is trying to reach and what creates meaningful connection instead.
Outside of her work, Racheal is a mother of four, an award-winning writer, and a pre-law student at Michigan State University, continuing a career defined by curiosity, communication, and understanding how people think.
Her message is simple: great messaging is not about finding the cleverest words. It is about helping people see themselves clearly enough to know that what you are saying is meant for them.
