Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Courtney Freeman grew up navigating the emotional complexities of a home shaped by addiction, instability, and unspoken wounds. With an alcoholic father and a stepfather who struggled with commitment, she learned early to find her footing through achievement — excelling in sports and academics, and becoming the quintessential firstborn overachiever who rarely put a foot wrong.
After Hurricane Katrina, she entered the beverage distribution industry, building a successful career while quietly carrying the weight of childhood trauma and misaligned beliefs she hadn’t yet recognized as her own. A chance opportunity working as a production assistant on a film set in New Orleans changed the course of her life — she fell in love, relocated to Los Angeles, and built a life that looked whole from the outside while the inside told a different story.
It wasn’t until COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill that everything came to the surface. Locked down in California with two young children, the patterns and cycles rooted in her earliest wounds could no longer be ignored. In July 2020, she made a life-changing decision: she entered a weeklong childhood trauma survivors intensive program at The Meadows in Arizona — and has not had a single sip of alcohol since.
That week became the foundation of a profound healing journey. Through deep therapeutic work, she began untangling decades of trauma, people-pleasing, and performance-based living. That healing, as transformative as it was, also brought necessary endings — to toxic dynamics in friendships, family relationships, and ultimately her 16-year marriage. She chose herself.
After years of bouncing between California, Louisiana, and Tennessee, she has planted roots in Franklin, Tennessee, where her two children are thriving in school and she has finally found a place that feels authentically like her.
Today, she stands confidently in her story — reclaimed, rebuilt, and ready to speak her message of healing, authenticity, and breaking generational cycles to anyone who needs to hear it.
